Riding Instruction
From first year basics to “A”
circuit competition, Hunters to C.T. to F.E.I. Dressage,
Equisports can take you all the way!
Beginner: Learn
proper grooming skills and safe horse handling. Learn how to
tack up a horse and the basic riding position. Learn to control
a quiet school horse
at the walk and trot. The beginner rider
will develop the balance and confidence to canter the
horse. This is a wonderful time to begin competing at shows.
Rider Basic: Learn
diagonals and leads and how to apply riding aids. Work on
developing a balanced, secure seat. Begin to gain awareness of
the effects of rein, weight, leg aids and timing on the horse.
The intermediate rider has the skills required for beginning
jumping and basic dressage.
Advanced:
Learn more advanced movements such as extensions, collections
and lateral work. The advanced rider understands the concepts
of horse movement and sound principles of training and can
begin training their own horse. The advanced rider is able to
successfully complete a complex jump course in the ring or
Cross Country and in Dressage.
Dressage
“To dress” or “to
train” is a method of riding that enhances the athletic
grace of the horse in a supple and harmonious manner. Dressage
is the logical, natural sequential exercising of the horse. It
improves his natural physical and mental capabilities. This
systematic “gymnasticizing” of the horse results in
stronger muscles and joints, increased ability to control
energy, and maximized performance in cooperation with a rider.
Ms Perry has been coached by Olympic and
internationally-rated trainers such as:
Victor Hugo-Vidal Hunters
Steve Stevens Jumpers
Dr. Josef Knipp (I Judge) Dressage
Liz Searle Dressage
Nicholas Ademetz Dressage & CT
Jeremy Beale Dressage & CT
Dominic Barbier Dressage
